PocketSDR GNSS receiver launched!
Posted by ZhangYong on
Since the launch of Prof. T. Takasu's 2CH version, we have been planning to support the mass production of this open-source project, which greatly benefits learning and research in the GNSS field. Last month, after communicating with Prof. T.Takasu via email, Prof. T.Takasu started releasing the 4CH version, and we internally began discussing mass production as soon as possible.
The process was always difficult. We found Digikey, but a few components were out of stock. We then turned to Japan Digikey, fortunately they had them in stock, and we quickly ordered 10 pieces, shipped them to our office in Japan, and then transferred them to the chip factory in Shenzhen. This process took more than two weeks. We then communicated with the chip factory regarding production. Ultimately, we decided that the first step would be to produce 5 pieces in strict accordance with Prof. T.Takasu's original drawings. After testing, we will proceed with further plans based on feedback from all parties involved, such as revisions and integration. Our ultimate goal is to create a fully open-source, high-performance SDR GNSS receiver.
These 5 pieces currently do not have a casing. We will design a casing, which will require some time. It is expected that the second batch will come with a casing.
The price of this initial batch of 5 pieces is somewhat higher due to initial production costs, but we will continue to reduce costs in the future. The testing process was exciting, and we've included some test screenshots here.

If you are interested, please place your order promptly. There are only 5 pieces available. The next batch is expected to be launched at the end of September, with an estimated quantity of approximately 10 pieces.
A detailed operating manual will soon be released to assist you in using PocketSDR GNSS more efficiently for your convenience.

We are only responsible for the manufacture of this project. it was not designed by DataGNSS. You can find the project homepage here: https://github.com/tomojitakasu/PocketSDR . This is Prof. T. Takasu's second great open-source project after the rtklib project, a widely respected tool in the field of precise positioning using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems).
